Stephen Lang & Oona Chaplin Talk Avatar: Fire and Ash at Lightstorm HQ
James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash — the third chapter in his groundbreaking franchise — is now available on digital and arrives on 4K Blu-ray May 19. Another billion-dollar hit, the Avatar series continues to dominate the global box office, with Cameron already teasing even bigger things to come in parts four and five. To celebrate the release, Lightstorm Entertainment opened its doors to select journalists for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour — and JoBlo’s Ryan Cultrera was there. Not only did he get a rare look inside Cameron’s cutting-edge production hub, but he also sat down for extended interviews with producer Rae Sanchini and stars Stephen Lang and Oona Chaplin. Lang returns as the ever-evolving Colonel Miles Quaritch, now reborn in a Na’vi body and torn between vengeance against Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and a complicated bond with his estranged son, Spider (Jack Champion). Meanwhile, Chaplin’s Varang — the ruthless leader of the fire clan — emerges as one of the film’s most compelling new forces. Their uneasy alliance becomes one of the film’s most fascinating dynamics, and in this interview, Lang and Chaplin dive deep into their characters, their evolving relationship, and the unique challenges of performance capture in the Avatar universe.
